Cove faults we are called out for most
Tap a fault to see what the code means and how it is actually diagnosed. Cove reports six-digit codes that name the component, so the first step on site is reading the code rather than guessing from symptoms.
Water standing in the bottom
Cove logs this as 80 01 40, which its own documentation reads as the drain pump running too long, or a secondary pressure check that could not resolve the drain. Cove’s first instruction for that code is not a part at all: clean the filter. A sump packed with debris produces the same reading as a failed pump, and the 80 family is the drain pump MOT4 in every case.
How it is diagnosed: Filter and sump cleared first, exactly as Cove directs, then a breaker reset. If the code returns, the drain pump and the pressure sensor PE1 are tested.
Will not fill, or fills too slowly
Two codes separate these. 56 01 86 is insufficient water supply while the fill solenoid is open; 56 01 87 is no supply at all. Both point outward before they point inward, at the shut-off under the sink and the inlet screen, and only then at the solenoid SOL1. The 70 family covers the opposite problem, an overfill the machine could not resolve.
How it is diagnosed: Supply pressure and the inlet screen first, then the fill solenoid, then the pressure sensor that decides when the tub is full.
Machine stops and will not restart
Cove watches for water where it should not be. 25 01 13 is the leak sensor FE1 detecting water while the fill solenoid is closed; 25 01 15 means three automatic flush sequences failed to clear it. That second one latches the machine deliberately, because a leak detection system that lets a cycle continue is not a leak detection system.
How it is diagnosed: The base is dried and the sensor checked, then the source traced: door seal, sump gasket, or a hose fitting. The machine will not release the fault until the base is dry.
Dishes come out wet, or the cycle never finishes
The heater is HTR1 and the 20 family belongs to it. 20 01 29 is the tell for a dead heater: the water failed to rise by 5°F in any ten second period. 20 01 28 is the opposite, the heater passing 176°F for a minute, and 20 01 93 is a heater that has not switched off after 234 minutes.
How it is diagnosed: The heater and its thermistor AE1 are tested together, since a sensor reading low drives the heater on as convincingly as a failed element stops it.
Grinding or humming during the wash
The circulation pump is MOT1 and it owns the whole 05 family, which is the largest group of codes in the manual. 05 01 13 is the pump running on an open phase for ten seconds, 05 01 38 is the control losing communication with it for thirty, and the overload codes record the motor reaching 140°C. Cove specifies the winding resistance, so this one is measurable rather than a judgement call.
How it is diagnosed: Harness connections, then resistance across the pump phases against Cove’s stated figure of 60.0 ohms, plus or minus 3.0.
Dishes come out dirty
Start at the filter. 30 01 14 is Cove telling you outright that the sump filtration system needs cleaning, and it is the most common thing behind poor results on a machine that is otherwise working. After that it is the diverter, which sends water to the upper or lower arm: 60 01 48 means the encoder ZE1 could not read the diverter disc.
How it is diagnosed: The four-stage filter is pulled and cleaned first, then the spray arms are checked for blockage, then the diverter motor and its encoder.
What Cove Actually Builds
Cove is the newest of three brands under Sub-Zero Group, launched in 2018, and it does one thing.

There is no Cove refrigerator, no Cove oven, no Cove cooktop and no Cove washer or dryer. If the appliance came from the same showroom and is not a dishwasher, it is a Sub-Zero or a Wolf. Both have pages of their own here.
The WS suffix matters on a service call. That model carries a regeneration tank that takes dishwasher salt, which is why one of the codes below reports a low salt level rather than a fault.
How a Cove Fault Code Is Built
A Cove code is six digits, shown on the panel in three pairs: 80 01 40 is the code 800140. The useful part is the first pair, because it names the component before you look anything up.

So a code starting 05 is the circulation pump whatever the last four digits say, and one starting 80 is the drain pump. That alone tells you which half of the machine to open.

Wording taken from Cove’s DW2450 and DW2450WS service manual and its published guidance for the 80 01 40 drain code. The full chart runs to well over fifty entries, and each is graded either a fault or a warning.
Three Codes You Can Clear Without Us
Not every Cove code is a fault. Three of them are the machine asking for something, and Cove grades them accordingly.
- 30 01 14, clean the filter. The four-stage filter is the single most common reason a Cove washes poorly, and this code says so directly. It lifts out and rinses under a tap.
- 57 01 54, low rinse aid. Top up the dispenser. Spotting on glassware usually shows up before the code does.
- 57 01 14, low salt. WS models only. The regeneration tank takes dishwasher salt, not table salt and not detergent.
Cove also asks for a filter clean and a 30 second breaker reset before service on the drain code, 80 01 40. It is worth doing: a blocked sump reads the same to the control as a failed pump.
