Start with the appliance and what it is doing. Most of the calls we take on this brand have no code behind them at all, so those rows come first. Where a code does exist, read it carefully: F03 on a combo and F3 on an older AW washer are not the same fault.

The appliance side went from Merloni Elettrodomestici to Indesit Company in 2005, Hotpoint and Ariston were combined as Hotpoint-Ariston in 2007, Whirlpool took control of Indesit in October 2014, and the European business became Beko Europe in April 2024. None of that reached Canada. Ariston household appliances are no longer sold or supported in North America, and the service address printed inside the old manuals now points at a domain that has been taken over by an unrelated site.

Condo laundry closets, mostly. These are 24 inch ventless machines built for apartments where a full-size pair will not fit, the same slot our washer repair and dryer repair pages cover for mainstream brands, and they came into Canada through niche importers rather than the mainstream retail chain.
The strongest sign of where they ended up: Concord Pacific hosts the Ariston ARWDF 129 combo manual and the TCL73 condenser dryer manual on its own website for residents of its buildings. If you bought a Toronto or Vancouver condo built in that era and inherited the laundry, this is very likely your machine.
The models we see are the ARWDF129NA and ARWDF129SNA combos, the ARWL129NA and ARWXF129WNA washers, the AW122NA, AW129NA and AW149NA, the TVF63XSNA and TVM63X dryers, the LI640 and LI670 dishwashers, and occasionally the BDR190NA refrigerator drawers. The combo is a 2.0 cubic foot ventless unit on a 115V 60Hz supply, so it was never the European machine with a North American plug.
Two different code systems ran on these machines and mixing them up sends the repair the wrong way. The North American service manual for the AWD combo platform, published by Merloni Elettrodomestici, uses two-digit codes. The older AW washers use single digits with different meanings.

The trap worth knowing. On the older AW 120 the single-digit list runs F1 triac, F2 main motor, F3 water temperature NTC, F4 pressure switch, F5 blocked drain motor, F6 program selector, F8 pressure switch shorted on full, F9 control board, F10 pressure switch shorted, F11 drain motor, with F7 and F12 unused and F13 to F16 applying only to the combo models. Read that against the two-digit table and several meanings move. If the machine also refuses to spin or will not fill, those guides describe the same faults across brands. The dryers split into vented units such as the TVF63XSNA and TVM63X, and condenser units such as the TCL73. On the vented electronic models the published codes are readable: F01 the motor running when it should be off, F03 and F13 the front and rear thermistors, F07 a lower element failure, F08 the element energised when it should be off, F10 an open circuit in the heater common wiring, and F12 no communication between the display and control modules.
On a condenser dryer, water on the floor is almost never the drum. It is the condensate tank seal or the drain hose where the unit has been plumbed to a standpipe, which is how most apartment installs run. Slow drying on either type is filters and the condenser block before anything electrical, and on a compact machine that shows up faster than it would on a full-size dryer.

The dishwashers, the LI640 and LI670 families, use a separate F list where F01 is the anti-flood overflow, F02 a fill valve failure, F03 a drain failure or timeout, F04 a thermostat fault, F06 a fill timeout, F10 a heating element fault and F11 a wash pump failure. Machines without a display count the fault out in LED flashes instead.
An F01 is worth understanding before you book. The anti-flood device has detected water in the base, so the machine is protecting your floor rather than failing. Drying the tray clears the code, but if the source has not been traced it returns, which is why the visit is about finding the leak rather than resetting the machine.

Ariston refrigeration reached North America as a built-in drawer unit rather than a freestanding cabinet, so there is no ice maker and no water dispenser to fail. What there is, is a sealed refrigeration system behind cabinetry, and the access is usually the slow part of the visit rather than the repair itself.
The published E-series codes are all sensor and defrost-sensor faults, which is better news than owners expect: a sensor and its wiring is a parts-and-labour repair, not a sealed-circuit one. Water pooling is a blocked defrost drain. An alarm with a warm compartment usually traces to a door seal or a drawer held open. Where the diagnosis does reach the sealed circuit, that work requires an Ozone Depletion Prevention certificate in Ontario.

This is the question every Ariston owner asks first, and the answer is better than expected. Parts exist, they are simply not where you would look.
Ariston part numbers run in the C00 series, and Canadian catalogues frequently drop the prefix. The door seal is C00111416 and lists in North American catalogues as plain 111416. The dryer fan motor is C00110434. That one detail is why an owner searching their own model number finds nothing while the part is sitting in stock, and it is the difference between a technician telling you the brand is unsupported and one finding the part in a few minutes.
What we do before booking: give us the model and the type number and we check the channels that still carry this brand, then quote the wait alongside the price. On a brand with no manufacturer support behind it that answer matters as much as the diagnosis, and we would rather tell you a part is gone than take a service call and discover it on the day. The same approach applies to the other European compacts we are called to, such as Asko, Bosch and Miele, where the parts channel matters more than the badge.
Worth two minutes before you call. Ariston indexes its technical literature by type number rather than by the model on the badge, the same convention Asko uses, and it is why owners searching a model number find nothing. Technicians hit the same wall.
On these machines the plate sits inside the door opening on a washer or combo, on the rear panel of a dryer, and on the inner door edge of a dishwasher. Read us everything on it, including the type and the commercial code. That string is what tells us which of the two washer code lists applies to your machine, and which parts diagram to order from.
Whether the repair is worth doing on a machine of this age is a separate question, and we answer it honestly.
