Dishwasher installation
The machine has to sit square in the cabinet opening and be secured so it does not tip when the loaded door swings down. Three services meet under there: the supply off the sink shut-off, the drain, and the outlet. The drain hose needs a high loop above the machine, and leaving that out is the single most common reason a new dishwasher smells within a month.
What the job involves: Level and anchor the unit, connect supply, drain and power, then run a full cycle and check every joint dry. More in our dishwasher installation page and how to install a dishwasher correctly.
Fridge installation
Most of the work is measuring before anything moves: the doorway, the turn at the top of the stairs, and the cabinet opening. Doors often need reversing or taking off to get through. If it has an ice maker or a water dispenser it needs a supply line run and a shut-off you can actually reach. A fridge laid on its side in transit should stand upright a few hours before it is powered up.
What the job involves: Fit and reverse doors as needed, level front-to-back so the doors self-close, run and test the water line, then check the temperature holds. See fridge installation.
Washer and dryer installation
Every new washer ships with transit bolts through the back holding the drum still. Leave them in and the machine will not spin; take them out and lose them and it cannot be moved again safely. Levelling matters more here than on anything else in the house — a washer half a degree out will walk across the floor on a spin cycle. Dryers need a vent to outside, in rigid duct, with foil tape and no screws poking into the run to catch lint.
What the job involves: Remove transit bolts, fit hoses and the drain standpipe, level on all four feet, connect and seal the dryer vent, then run a test cycle. See washer installation.
Stove, oven and cooktop installation
An electric range runs on a 240V circuit of its own, and a built-in wall oven is usually hardwired rather than plugged in. Every freestanding range sold in Canada comes with an anti-tip bracket that screws into the floor or the wall behind it — it is there so the appliance cannot tip when a child stands on the open door, and it is the part most often left in the box. Gas connections are a different matter: in Ontario they must be made by a licensed gas technician.
What the job involves: Fit the anti-tip bracket, make the electrical connection, level the unit into the cabinet line, and test every element and the oven. See stove installation, or oven repair if the problem is with one you already have.
Range hood installation
The first question is whether it ducts outside or recirculates through a filter, because that decides everything else. A ducted hood needs a run to an exterior wall or the roof, kept as short and straight as it can be — every elbow costs it airflow. Mounting height above the cooking surface is set by the manufacturer and is not a matter of taste: too low over a gas burner is a fire risk, too high and it stops catching anything.
What the job involves: Mount to studs at the specified height, run and seal the duct, wire in and test the fan and lights on every speed. See range hood installation.
Over-the-range microwave installation
This one is heavier and more awkward than it looks, and it is a two-person job — the unit hangs off a plate bolted into the studs and off bolts through the cabinet above. It also replaces the range hood, so it has to be set for the right venting mode: out through the wall, up through the roof, or recirculating through a charcoal filter. Getting that wrong means the fan runs and nothing leaves the kitchen.
What the job involves: Fit the mounting plate into studs, set the blower for the correct venting mode, hang and bolt the unit, then test the fan, light and turntable. See microwave installation.

Before We Arrive
Five minutes of preparation is the difference between a one-visit install and a return trip:
- Clear the route. Measure the doorways and the turn at the top of the stairs, not just the cabinet opening — that is where appliances get stuck.
- Have the services in place. A shut-off valve you can reach, a drain, and an outlet on the right circuit. If any of the three is missing, tell us when you book and we will bring what the job needs.
- Keep the paperwork. The model number and the manual matter: clearances, bracket positions and venting modes are set by the manufacturer, not by preference.
- Decide about the old appliance. Whether it is being disconnected and left, moved to the garage, or taken away changes how long the visit takes.
- Book around the delivery, not before it. Retail delivery windows slip. We would rather move the appointment than have you pay for a technician to look at an empty kitchen.
